I put all the files back on (copying from my other external drive, which took a while) but when I tried plugging it in to her PC, the same problem occurred.So I emailed LaCie (the hard drive people) and they told me to pay for MacDrive 8 from Mediafour. Are there any open-source programs for this?. I used NTFS-3G for a while, when I was on 10.5 and it worked just fine. The problem was when I switched to 10.6.

It would take 5 or 6 hours to copy a 700 MB file to my external HD, some bugs prevented me from reading certain files and deleting others. But not only was I unable to use the files on OS X, they were fucked up beyond any recovery even in Windows. I actually lost quite a few GB of files thanks to the bugs in NTFS-3G., so I decided to re-format my HD as HFS and try MacDrive on my Win7 partition. Haven't had a single problem for months. The solution is simple repartition disk in disk utility remembering to click options, hit MBR style rather than gui part table or apple part table then erase as msdos, (fat32 for windows users) and you can read an write files up to 4 gb on the drive on either ur mac or her pc with no issues.unless ur swapping x264 rips of movies im sure 4 gb will surfice per movie file size:)otherwise go with the standard mac hfs journaled and get her to install hfsexplorer (doesnt need install an in general less problems)Sorry for bad grammer, bad spelling.
